Is this feeling normal after undergoing surgery with general anesthesia?!

Question: In June of 20004 I had a short little surgical procedure in which I was put under with general anesthesia.

After I had the surgery I was very groggy, I was told to take deep breaths but that didn't help. I don't remember the 40 minute ride back to my house. I basically fell asleep when I got home at around 2:30 and was very groggy / sleeping all the way till 9:00 the next morning.

Is this something i need to remember or is it normal and i should just forget it?

Very normal, especially if you had big doses of midazolam, or if isoflurane was used as your inhalation agent.

Midazolam is a drug that we use so that you don't remember what goes on DURING the surgery. It still has effects afterward - for a few minutes for some people, and many hours for others. (That is why we tell people not to drive, sign legal papers, drink alcohol, etc. for 24 hrs after anesthesia)

You don't need to remember, and probably can't anyway.

It is absolutely normal. I've had surgery 7 times, and that is how it is. It takes quite a few hours after you wake up from it before you feel somewhat normal from it. I don't remember much from all of the surgeries, and sometimes it can last for a few days.

the last time i was under general anesthesia, i had an entire conversation with my sister and have no memory of it

Normal! Everybody reacts differently to anesthesia - but most people are groggy, nauseated, and sleepy afterward.

Anesthetic affects everyone differently. What you experienced is quite normal. On the other hand another person may experience no side effects whatsoever.
