As "disgusting" sounding as it may sound, actually it is important to observe firmness vs. softness of stool along with stool color. It is a representation of what you are eating or possible infections you may be experiencing. Even frequency can have a play in stool "quality"

However, frequency varies among people and there is not set rule how many times one should have a bowel movement in a given day let alone a given week. What matters is... Did it change from your average normal standard FOR YOU?

As to your color tone of stool, it may mean you have several things going on and it is the back tracking of the last 24 hours of your intake that influences what you have digested vs. wasted out.

The following are pasted exercpts from the links preceding the captuired "facts"

http://www.teenhealthfx.com/answers/Heal... I will assume you did not eat any crayons or paint as part of your dietary supplement. A quick fix the possibility of dehyrdration accompanied with nausea is to drink 2oz-4oz of Gatorade or Powerade every 30 minutes until you feel you can maintain without throwing up.

The mostly obvious cause would be from eating green food. Green, leafy vegetables contain chlorophyll, which can color the stool green. Foods that have certain kind of additives, such as artificial flavors or colors, may also have a greening effect. For younger children eating a green crayons or green paint will also do the trick. Iron supplements or even iron rich food can lend a green hue to stool.

A stool can also appear green for physical reasons and not just because of what you ate. The bile that is secreted in the first part of the small intestine is actually green. As a stool passes through the large intestine it is turned into a darker brown color. If a stool is still green by the time it is excreted, it could mean that it passed through the large intestine too fast to be changed in color. This mostly occurs in cases of diarrhea, which can be an indication of other problems or lead to dehydration.

If you continue to have a green stool or have blood in your stool, chronic diarrhea or your bowel habits change in any other way then you should consult with a doctor. These could be signals of a more serious problem.

As bile makes its way through the intestines, it progressively changes color from green to yellow to brown, due to the action of bacteria in the large intestine on the bile salts.

Green stool often indicates that food has passed through the intestines faster than normal (called decreased bowel transit time), before it could be changed from green to brown

Examples of other underlying causes to be aware of but not necessarily alarmed by as some of the diseases mentions can be managed via dietary modifications.

- Laxative use
- Antibiotic use
- Medication side effects
- Food poisoning
- Celiac disease
- Ulcerative colitis
- Crohn's disease
- Malabsorption
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Bacterial overgrowth
- Infectious diarrhea - especially salmonella and giardia
- Traveler's diarrhea
- Cancer

Foods and supplements that can cause green stool include:

- Chlorophyll
- Iron supplements
- Algae

Note: Speak with your doctor about any change in bowel movements.

what a stook sample is may be looking for

Feces, also called excreta and stool, are the waste products of digestion. They take form as they are moved along the large intestine by involuntary muscular contractions called peristalsis (see also digestion). The normal daily stool of human adults is about 250g (9 oz). Besides food products, up to 20 percent of this weight is intestinal bacteria. Other constituents are digestive secretions, enzymes, fats, cell debris, electrolytes, water, and small amounts of protein.

The characteristic odor of feces is caused by certain organic chemicals, primarily skatole. Medical examination of feces aids in diagnosing many gastrointestinal disorders. Very dark stools, for example, may indicate an ulcerative lesion in the higher digestive tract. Heavy, fat-rich stools can indicate various intestinal and pancreatic disorders, and so forth. Feces are also examined to detect internal parasites

Now since you are attesting you had green tea, it may have been an inadvertent culprit not necessarily because of it green color quality but because of its ability to accelerate metabolism. It may have acted indirectly as a diuretic which forced the passage of waste from your higher intesting through your colon in a faster path travel than expected.

Qualities of green tea

Previous animal studies showed that green tea extract increased thermogenesis, which is the generation of body heat that occurs as a result of normal digestion, absorption, and metabolization of food. In previous human studies, the authors showed that consumption of green tea increased thermogenesis as well as energy expenditure and fat loss in healthy men, suggesting that green tea in liquid or capsule form may be an effective way to aid weight loss.

Truly, since this is an apparent first time occurence for you, I shan't be alarmed if all things go back to "normal" after a week. If it progresses for more than 2-3 weeks, then of course, visit your most trusted doctor

WHAT????????

Dude,I have no Idea.

It has to do something with what you ate.

I can't say i've ever actually examined it. I just wipe and flush

They both indicate the type of food you have swallowed during the last few hours.

I think that if your poop is dark green dat means that ur backed up wich means that you should eat greens and allot of vegetables if its lime green its a little ok i guess its really supposed to be brown does your stomach hurt if so you might b sick

Age, diet, medication, defecation habit, the number of daily defecation may reflect the nature of the feces that is closely related to our health.

Basically, the feces are very much related to diet. When we eat more vegetables, the feces can have partially green palm tree color, while eating more meat can give brown black to the color of the feces. In addition to that, eating more meat may cause strong unbearable smell of the feces, discomfort to defecate and in severe cases may cause constipation and accelerate the aging of our gastrointestinal tract. If you consume foods or liquids rich in artificial flavors or chemical, the feces may also smell worse. In fact, certain drugs and medication may also cause the change of the feces' shape, texture and color.

It does reflect what you have been eating, and how much bile your body is producing. Green is no cause of alarm unless it is Day Glo green. Texture represents digestion. Feces that flow often mean too much fat in your diet. Loose, watery stools mean malabsorbtion. Unless unusual stools last for more than several days, I wouldn't be concerned.
