Why do you always get an itch when you can't scratch it?!

Question: example: when you have a bad itch on your head but cant scratch because you are cleaning dishes or have a chemical on your hands.

The worst is on your back. No matter if my hands are dirty or not, I still cant reach it. Damn it, I just got an itch there now. Thanks :)

If you got an itch when you were able to scratch it you would probably scratch it without thinking about having an itch. But when you can't scratch it you become more aware of it because it lasts longer.
