Strobe lights make me faint?!

Question: Twice I have been at a club where the strobe lights have come on and I've almost fainted. The first time everything went fuzzy... I couldn't see anything and I wanted to vomit. The second time my eyes couldn't handle them and I couldn't walk in a straight line everything was dizzy and one second my bf was 10 metres away the next he was right in front of me. I was tripping out. Any explanations?
Thanks.

Oh my goodness I have the exact same thing although a little less dramatic, I definitely get the full on dizziness sometimes in clubs from the lights especially where they do that thing where you're in flashing light and darkness -I get sick but don't quite feel like I'm going to vomit. I get it sometimes from other unnatural strong indoor lighting too and sometimes it's embarrassing as you just want to leave and it's hard to explain to people. Don't know what it is sorry apart from the fact that that kind of lighting isn't natural and is bound to have an effect, would be nice to have a proper explanation

maybe you had a little too much to drink?
or maybe you have vertigo OR
epileptic episodes :| my friend fainted because of sudden lights

That is a classic symptom of EPILEPSY.. you need to see your doctor and get checked out.

it sounds like you need to see a doctor about this. You could be having mini seizures set off by the lights. This could get worse if not checked into

I can't tell you why but I can tell you the same thing happens to me so I cannot go anywhere that has strobe lights.

I strongly recommend you go and speak to your Dr about this....sooner rather than later.

Strobe lights can effect some peoples brains in such a way as to evoke a release of electricity. Whilst for some this can cause them to black out, in others can cause seizures. In fact those with epilepsy generally respond to flashing lights with a seizure...It is actually one of the tests for epilepsy during EEG.
And then comes the question, if strobe pulsating lights can do this to you....what else can?

Epilepsy can present as mild 'absences' where you can loose a few seconds or full seizures. Afterwards the person generally has a headache and feels sleepy and worn out.

I cannot recommend enough that you see your Dr about this. He may be able to offer advice or treatment to help you

Good Luck and Take Care

years ago putting someone in a room with a special strobe light ,was used to diagnose epilepsy. If able to bring on a seizure or not, would confirm if the patient had epilepsy or not.
