Yes it can. Lack of sleep can contribute to both visual and auditory hallucinations, delusional or obsessive thoughts and pervasive fears, erratic behavior, anxiety and panic disorders, and a host of other symptoms that can be interpreted as "psychotic" behaviors. Lack of sleep and the chemical changes it causes in the brain is often the trigger for what is known as "post partum psychosis".

yes it can, but only severe lack of sleep (more than 24 hours usually)

Yes, depending on low long you have been deprived of sleep, you could even die.

I'm well I really don't get much sleep, but I think hallucinating shouldn't be a result of no sleep. You should really go get checked up by a doctor.

yes it can. Better get the z's happening, You will die from lack of sleep sooner than lack of water

It depends on how long you have gone without sleep. If it has been days, you definitely can be MILDLY hallucinating. If it is more than that, then go and see someone about it.

yup. im seeing close ups and i aint holding a camcorder. up for 20 hrs.

Absolutely, it can also cause you to hear noises that are not there. At times you will think that you are going crazy. Get help asap. Try herbal things like teas and Melatonin. If that doesn't work go to an MD and see what he can give to you for sleep.

Yes it can cause you to hallucinate. That is your body's way of telling you that you need to sleep quickly. Otherwise your body will shut down as a defense mechanism.

if you don't get an adequate 6-7 hours of daily sleep, your body will actually begin to break down and suffer in a variety of ways. Hallucinating is one of the side effects related to sleep deprivation!

depends how many nights sleep youve missed and depends what the hallucination is. i think after 3 nights missed sleep you can see things moving in the corner of your eye that isnt there or hear things that arent there etc... i studied sleeping disorders in psychology in college but that was about 6 years ago now cant really remember it very well so sorry if my answer is a little inaccurate lol :-/

Yes it definitely can!
I'm a student so i stay up a lot and once i go about 2 days without sleep i start seeing things in the corner of my eye, any longer and i hear stuff like people calling my name!!

I know in psychological experiments on sleep deprivation i think the longest recorded time without sleep was like 5 days, and it had to be called off because the participant (who was also the head researcher) thought the fellow researchers were conspiring against him.

No sleep is bad!!

edit: you really don't need to go very long without sleep to start having problems, however everyone is different. A lot of it has to do with missing out on REM sleep (stage of sleep when you remember your dreams) which is vital for mental health.
Animal experiments (sad i know) have shown that suppression of REM sleep causes all sorts of problems and has even lead to death (not that I'm implying you're lack of sleep is that serious).

Yes lack of sleep can cause hallucinations, however, I would think you would need to be extremely sleep deprived in order for that to happen. Some medications may cause hallucinations as well. I am not sure if you are taking any medications, but if you are you would want to talk to your doctor about that. Damage to any of your sensory organs may cause hallucinations as well. The best advice I can give to you is to call your doctor and explain to him/her what is happening so you can get it taken care of. Having hallucination is not something you should be having, please talk to your doctor. Even if it is caused by your sleep deprivation they can prescribe you something to help you sleep.
