I just ate a bunch of raw chicken, should I make myself throw up?!

Question: My wife made Chicken Parmesan and I didn't notice that the chicken was WAY undercooked with all the toppings on top of it. I noticed when I was almost done with it, but by then I had already eaten almost all of it. I ate a lot of chicken that was almost raw. I'm worried about getting sick. Should I make myself throw up? Or should I wait and see whether or not I get sick?

No, don't make yourself throw up. Adults aren't usually as susceptible to salmonella poisoning as children are. Technically, people are exposed to salmonella in food on a daily basis. The only difference is that adult bodies have a more developed immune system. So, don't freak out. You're probably okay, but if you start to feel sick, get to a hospital immediately.

A really good example is cookie dough or over easy eggs. Both are undercooked (or not cooked at all) and contain salmonella, yet people eat them all the time and do not get sick.

I think you should be fine.. but if not let yourself throw up naturally.

Hmmm, out of all the things to eat raw had to be the chicken! Throwing up probably wouldn't help you.. I'd just look out for any bizarre symptoms and contact a doctor.

Ewww! Just wait it out. Not all raw food makes you sick, just most of the time

Definetely, raw chicken is full of bacteria and it could make you ill in the next day or two

How did you not notice the rubbery feeling of disgusting raw chicken (lol!)? Haha, anyways, don't make yourself puke until you feel the slightest urge of uncomfortableness. As soon as you feel it 'saying hello to you', stick your head in the toilet. Cause, you know, that stuff can definitely poison you...god forbid.

I would just call a doctor, and ask what to do, after all, doctor knows best, LoL, hope I helped :)

P.S. I wouldn't make yourself throw up, it's a very violent thing for the stomach to do.

The raw chicken theory is actually a myth. You'll be fine.

I think that you are fine. If you are concerned call a doctor and ask them what they think

I think you should be fine. Ever heard of chicken tartar? its raw chicken and people eat it that way.

I would say at this point you already got some in your so it's probably too late. Either you will blow now and a whole bunch later, or just a whole bunch later. Besides, raw chicken isn't a gaurantee you will get sick, just if it has enough time to grow bacteria

i would call a doctor as soon as youre possibly able, he can best tell you what to do. raw chicken isn't something you should mess about with. if you cant get a hold of a doctor for whatever reason go to the emergency room.

You should just wait, you may or may not get sick. Either way you'll be ok.

No I wouldn't go that far. Not every piece of undercooked food is going to make you sick, although stressing about it this much just might. LOL

maybe your wife should learn how to cook and you wont have this problem......no offense

but i think you should wait and see what happens

if i were you i wuld throw up otherwise you actually could get ring worm or food posining

If you dont make yourself throw up your body is going to make you throw up anyways. This guy I work with ate raw chicken tenders and he was yacking the whole night. Have fun with that.

I am sorry....I am having a very difficult time believing this question at all. You couldn't tell after the first bite that the chicken was raw?? Even with toppings on it, you should have been able to tell as soon as you cut into it that the blood indicated it wasn't done.

Contact a local urgent care center and ask if there is anything you can take to prevent e.coli.

If the chicken is tainted with salmonella, there is nothing you can do at this point as it is already in your system and throwing up will not help. Just wait it out and hopefully you will not get sick!

Here is a list of symptoms and info on salmonella.

II would wait and see what happens, but if you start to feel any abdominal discomfort I would seek medical help immediately.

if u feel like ur gonna puke, then go ahead...just not on the comp, lol. Take some peptobismal or how ever it is spelled.
Also if u start feeling sick, tell ur wife, warn her.
But if u don't get sick u might wanna say in a good way to let her cook the chicken a bit more next time, but don't sound like it was awful and stuff, cuz then she won't like it and will get ofended.
Be all like "I loved it, but next time could u cook the chicken more? it would give it a great kick of flavor!" sound like ur gonna make it better with the idea u've give'n her.

Yeah, if its that bad for you, your body will take care of the throwing up part for you, and if you got ecoli (spelling?) its too late to throw up now.

i would just wait it out.... if you do start puking your brains out--not forcing yourdelf to--then i would start to get worried, but i know from experience that you should be fine, a little grossed out yes, but not deathly ill.
good luck and hope i helped!

I think you should be okay. I mean it wasn't totally raw, so you probably won't get too sick. But I say don't make yourself throw up. If your body wants to throw up, it will.

Don't make yourself throw up but be careful as salmonella could kill you. Just monitor yourself for the next day or so and if in doubt go to your doctor. Also maybe suggest to your wife that next time she cooks poultry she should cook it through next time.

"Time magazine calls raw chicken "one of the most dangerous items in the American home," and each year in the US alone, contaminated chicken kills at least 1,000 people while sickening as many as 80 million others."

when you get to heaven...will you tell my mam maw hello???

throw up! and divorce your wife

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

psht, whats wrong with YOU? jeez FATTY!

eh what the hell.
its better than getting worms

if the chicken did have salmonella or e. coli, it has already entered your bloodstream. if you throw up, it'll just be less that comes up or squirts out later.
