Shaking when doing an oral presentation?!

Question: I shake really bad when doing any sort of public speaking, especially at school. My voice and my hands shake alot and probably the worst thing is my heart goes REALLY fast, i feel like i could pass out any second. Even when the teacher just asks me to read from my book or something easy like that. its really frustrating, and i really don't know whats wrong with me.

Does anyone have any advice to reduce this rush of adrenaline? i don't want public speaking advice like "look at audience, breathe, practice, etc" just anything you can recommend which stops shaking, or just makes it less obvious?

It sounds like you are probably hyperventilating(breathing too fast) that effects your gas exchange and makes you all shakey etc. Try taking a brown paper bag and breathing in and out of it for a few moments. It is simple but it really works, also try to slow your breaths a little, by being aware of how fast you are breathing. Hope it's useful.

It is natural to get nerves when having to do public presentations, everyone does,(except for some egocentic dudes). Some ppl can just hide it better =)),but do try the bag,it really is a useful tool.=) Report It

When I was in school that ALWAYS happend to me too. But once I got a job and was forced to talk in front of a lot of people and people I dont know it got easier. Try to be as relax as you can but as time goes on it should get easier. You could also try talking in front of the mirror, it sounds silly i know but it could help ease the tension of speaking outloud. Hope I could help ya!

You probablly feel like you're the only one in the room who has to do it and everyone else is looking at you waiting to criticize. I used to be like that but since I stopped using an 'RP' accent when I talked out loud I started to get better. If you don't pronounce your words in a standard way when you speak naturally, carry that on into public speaking.

If you know you have to read something then read it over quickly in your head just before you have to read the whole thing out loud so that you can cover any words you might trip up on.

If a person thinks they are gonna sound like a div after reading something out, they probablly will, just think about your opinion of other people when they read things out, you probablly don't laugh at them and they have nothing to be embarresed about, well neither do you.
