Do you think my doctor would prescribe me ambien or something similar...?!

Question: since I am going to be working midnight shift at a job?

Ambien worked like once for me personally then acted as a stimulant. Melatonin for temporary use may help you. Long term you must practice strict sleep hygiene on the Midnight shift for your health and safety.
Block out at least six hours a day for sleep at the same time each day. Use room darkening shades and a white noise such as a fan to block out daily noises that might tell your system to wake up. Do not intake caffeine for at least six hours before you plan to sleep if possible. Get a sleep mask and earplugs.
Avoid any stimulant with ephedrine type compounds. Ephedrines can cause hallucinations and heart palpitations. Get lots of B-vitamins in your diet to feed your brain.

Most likely no. You need to adjust your body to that shift. Try melatonin if you have trouble falling asleep.

Maybe but I would avoid Ambien. Too many complications especially for someone who doesn't have a sleeping disorder to take.

It is going to take some time to adjust your internal clock but dark blinds and sleeping at the same time during the day will start to help. I would give it a little while before even thinking about a script. If completely necessary go get a non habit forming over the counter sleep aide.

Not if he/she is a good doctor. You shouldn't take sleep meds just because of the shift you are working! Ambien and similar meds are highly addictive and shouldn't be taken lightly. Just try to keep yourself on a schedule...even on the nights you have off. Eventually, your body will adjust to the time difference.

They would request that you try to change your sleep schedule on your own first.

Ambien is a quick fix.It will ruin your mind after about a week or two.Ambien makes you think you are asleep, your are not really asleep. It will last about five hours. The clerk of court here advised me to take ambien,I said no way,.he is no doctor.i was advised by a doctor to be careful and let the doctor prescribe, not a clerk.davidson county.

not until you have tried working that shift awhile a then discover you have difficulty sleeping
try working the shift for at least 2 months to see if you can get into some sort of sleep schedule
