It is good that you do not smoke but it is no good that you are around people that usually smoke.
If you breathe in smoke that other people smoke out, you are actually doing second hand smoking. The risk of having cancer in future is higher if you do second hand smoking compared to normal smoking.
My advice to you is to ask your friends to move away from you if they wish to smoke. If they refuse to listen, just walk away from them. If they follow you, you have to tell someone close to you about it.
Another piece of advice is that if your friends ask you to try smoking, just decline their offer, walk away and warn someone close to you about it.
Good luck!

I'd be more worried about all the exhaust fumes your inhaling

you're right... second hand smoke, and just the smoke that comes off the end of the cig, is way more toxic than if you actually smoked one

If it is outside where you are passive smoking the chances of being affected are very slim, but if its inside just ask your friends not to smoke around you because it makes you feel ill or something :)

I smoke myself and respect peoples choices around me if they don't smoke i won't smoke near them if it bothers them

You can get lung cancer from second-hand smoke. It can effect your health being around smokers. Don't be in the same room with them when they smoke, if possible, ask them to leave the room to smoke.

It is bad for you. Second hand smoke has been declared by the EPA to be a health hazard. They say that there is no safe level of secondhand smoke. That is why some states are starting to make it illegal to smoke in a car with a small child.

stop hangin with those people tell ur parents.

passive smoking is a problem but it shouldn't by anything to worry about unless you are constantly sat in enclosed spaces for prolonged periods of time on a regular basis.
try and get outside as much as possible or ask people not to smoke when they are sat right next to you.
don't be tempted to try one and join in - you can become addicted after one cigarette and once you start there is a 50% chance that you will die of a smoking-related illness.
well done for being the non-smoker!

second hand smoke will definitely increase your chances of lung cancer
if you must hang out with your friends, try to hang out outside or in a well ventilated room.

You should be ok as long as there is a source of fresh air and you are not in a sealed room. Your friends have started a nasty, expensive and hard to break habit. Be smart and don't start yourself.

It is a possibility to develop problems because of second-hand smoke, which some argue is even more deadly than smoking the cigarette first-hand, due to it already being processed.

I'm in a similar environment, and I often try to stay away from them when they do decide to smoke one. If I'm in the car, I cover my mouth with my shirt, and I breathe out on a constant basis.

Honestly, it's pretty hard to stay away from such an environment, but it's not impossible. It just depends on how much you want to stay away.

The reason there's "no evidence" of the harmful causes of second hand smoke is because there is no harmful effects. I f you're outside just stand facing the direction of the wind to avoid inhaling the fumes. You'll be fine

I think you are taking the danger too seriously. Don't worry about it. It isn't going to give you cancer.
