Why is it hard to stop dipping tobacco snuff?!

Question: my friend is tryin' to quit chewing or dipping tobacco after 8 months of doing it. She asked me why it is so hard to quit just like trying to quit smokin' cigarettes. She kind of remind me of a hillbilly woman who is dress like a guy. So my friend want to know do you have any tips how to slowly back away from it without craving for it?

Nicotine is the reason behind it. It is said that quitting smoking/chewing is even harder then quitting 'cocaine'.

I do not know if this honestly works for chewing/dipping tobacco but it has helped me through the process of quitting smoking.

Start limit by limit to begin to cut back on it. If there's a routine to her chewing (Like after meals or first thing in the morning, ect..), attempt to break those habits.

First thing in the morning brush your teeth, use mouthwash then drink a full glass of grapefruit juice. This will literally send the tastebuds into 'shock'.

Rubberband around the wrist, begin to snap it every time a craving occurs.

Chew gum or sunflower seeds. Keep something going that will break the actual /physical/ addition. With chew, I would recommend sunflower seeds due to the fact you're still spitting something out.

Support groups! There are MANY support groups (yes, free) out there that you can subscribe to by the computer (email) or even the phone itself. It is always important to have support. It'll be rough, that's no doubt, but with enough support and will, it can happen.

Good luck to your friend!

tobacco is addictive
