Is it a bad back or not?????!

Question: I do a very phyisical job and it involves basic lifting and pulling.

I get a pain in my back and its stiff after i sit down and when i awake in the mornings...

So i could be unloading a wagon ok, then go on break but when i get to stand up i`m all stiff in the back and g=have a back pain, i walk a bit it seems to ease and then next break same, get home after work get out car and i`m all stiff again and have the pain, then within 20 mins its eased again...

What is it, is it proper back ache and symptoms or anything else worth worrying...

Whats also the best things i can buy to help it ease, Currently using deep heat muscle rub and odd pain killer?

Many thanks

Daz

dont rush the work rembember its your back if you hurt it company wont care.for muscles and joints you need to have plenty of oil in them the best thing to build up the supply in your system is codliver oil ,ask any fisherman, old cure but works in a month you wont know yourself.

You need some instruction on safely moving and handling. Your back is trying to tell you that you're misusing it. Using painkillers and deep heat will only help temporarily - you need to look at ways of preventing further damage.

If your back hurts, then you have a 'bad back'. In your job it's extremely important that you lift correctly to minimise the risk of further damage. Do you have to do regular Moving & Handling updates at work? If not, make sure you ask your boss about it. It sounds like general 'wear and tear' but it might be an idea to have a chat with your GP to make sure it's nothing to be too concerned about - the stiffness sounds like it could be early arthritis and an x-ray would confirm this.
