Surgery ???!
Question: I have a seperated shoulder I got in a car accident on 3-15. The pain is still there and I can really lift my arm. I am seeing a doctor and they are sending me to an orthopedic surgon, but not until the 29. If my arm is out of my shoulder imoblizer and hanging down by my side it hurts so bad like my shoulder can't support the weight of my arm. I can't get anyone to explain what type of procedure they would do on my shoulder or how long it will take to heal afterwards. Has any one else had this happen to them. If so what did you do

i dislocated my shoulder when i was 32 and broke a piece of bone off that was about 1/4 of an inch. i had surgery to fix it. the surgery was somewhat painful to recover from but that might have been because at the time i had a 4 year old child and a 2 year old. the physical therapy will be difficult but when is it not after a surgery? the recovery rate will diffrenciate depending on the surgery they do and how bad the injury was. i took longer than normal to recover but my 14 year old daughter had knee surgery and recoverd 3 weeks ahead of schedule. it just depends on how good of shape you are in. but they will explain everything to you when you see the orthapedic surgen.
