Seizures? Anyone had em?!

Question: i am 18 years old and monday morning i experienced my first (and hopefully last) seizure. i have reasearched them a bit, but really know little about them. i was hoping if anyone out there has ever had one one or has epilepsy that you might have some words of wisdom. im afraid it'll happen again and that someonething bad will happen. becuase my idiot sister tried to give me the hymlich and crushed my ribs, my step dad stuck his hand down my mouth ( i already knew that this is the one thing you never do to someone having a seizure.) well in that prosses i bit him and i bit myself really hard on the tounge, now i cant talk or hardly eat.

personal stories, facts, or words of incouragment would be most appriciated.

My husband has epilepsy and he currently is taking medication to control the seizures. He started having seizures when he was in high school. He was on the football team and was hit hard on his head. Since then he's had about 4 seizures and the last one he had was because they were trying to get him off the the medication. Since he had the last seizure over 8 years ago he hasn't had one since. This medication is working really well for him. It is very important that you do see a doctor about the seizures because you can harm yourself and may harm others. Just a warning, if you drive your license may be taken away for a year to make sure that it is safe for you to drive. My husband had his license taken away in while he was in college, but since he's been on medication he can keep his license. I encourage you to see a doctor immediately to let him/her know what is going on and what you can do to prevent a seizure from happening again. I hope that you are well soon.

well..
i never had a seizure
but my little brother had a few before....
i dont really know anything about them

but if you have it again make sure you lay on your side so you want swallow your tongue or stick something in your mouth form preventing it

you need more info on what causes your seizures and you need to educate yourself and your family
this is no laughing matter but you apparently think it is

Sorry you are having seizures, you need to get to the doctor and see if they can find the reason for it, it maybe preventable. My sister had grand mall seizures for quite some time and now doesn't have them any more. The only thing a person can do for you is let you go through it and move anything that maybe in your way so you don't hurt yourself on it. If it were me I would also call 911. But you really need to get to the doctor and find out what you can, having seizures will also stop you from getting a driver's license, and if you all ready have one the state can revoke it. There are medications out there that can help, and if you are all ready on certain types of medications this could be a side effect. Please, I cannot stress it enough, get to the doctors. You could be driving down the road and heaven forbid have a seizure and not only hurt yourself but others also, no one would want that to happen. Good luck and I hope your doctor can find out the cause to your problem, God Bless.

Well I can tell you this, God can change any situation...

Next, I don't have them myself, but my 1st cousin has them. She had surgery on her brain and they still come from time to time but not as many.

I can only offer you words of encouragement my dear. I say trust in the Lord and believe for your complete and total healing.

Isaiah 53:4-5 (Amplified Bible)
4Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].(B)

5But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
