They can live for up to 24-36hours without human blood. It is not necessary for you to keep her toys in an airtight container for 2 weeks thats extreme!! Just check them over for lice and if they are clear give her them back! You would be able to see by just a quick brush over with your hands and a good shake, if you are really worried then wash them. And just explain in simple terms why you are looking, I always called them little spiders and my children were then more than happy to get rid of them!!
Lice cannot live without human blood for more than 24 hours. Just make sure that her bed sheets and hair brush etc has been cleaned so she doesnt re-catch them.
