Question: wouldnt you know you couldnt breathe? I read an article that says they went out drinking got home and choked on their own vomit in their sleep. How could the person not have waked up?

You inhale the vomit. And if you're so drunk you've got alcohol poisoning your body's responses shut down.
It will happen if the person is too drunk to wake up.

you would have to be very drunk, which can easily happen.
They may have woken up, but it was too late. You suck that crud down into your lungs, you are going to die.

well if you throw up in ur sleep and ur laying on ur back the vomit goes back into ur lungs and u basically drown. Idk how some people dnt wake up but some just dont. And thats just how they die....sad

because there blacked out from the effects of the alchohole there brain wont let them wake up. therefor they choke and cant do anything about it as there heads arnt responding
becasue they arent sleeping, their passed out aka unconscience. if ur sleeping and u throw up, ur wake up as ur throwing up, trust me, i was sik last night

they have safety positions that people should be put in in situations like those, usually on their side so if they do vomit, it wont choke them.
Its pretty much just like drowning. Your lungs inhale it and then the shut down. Then you choke.

That happens when a person is really intoxicated. They are less aware than normal and choke on their vomit.
