How long can you fast without hurting yourself?!

Question: I mean without food, not without water.

Answers: I mean without food, not without water.

If you are looking to do an extended fast, I would recommend that you take in more than water. At least drink juice too. I tried to do a 40 day fast once and after 15 days I started feeling very weak and light-headed - and this was with drinking juice. I had to break fast at that point.

I hope your fast will be a blessed one, sister!

fasting one day, once a month is not bad. it cleanses your body but anymore than that just hurts your insides...

I have fasted for as long as two weeks with no ill effects, but be prepared for extreme weakness and temporary mental changes.

Depends on your body weight and how healthy you are. I can't say without that. Typically though a body can survive up to 30 days if you only supply yourself water. Yet you will feel dizzy and nausious (can't spell right now, tired) as well as week. Sometimes may pass out because your body will go into shock with in the first week because of the drastic change. Talk to a doctor about this before doing it so you avoid any potential harm to yourself. Good luck.

I am medicated on Adderall, so I eat one small meal a day for dinner. You become severely dehydrated, but other than that it should be fine. I don't feel the urge to eat but I do because my parents worry. But at a max I would only take two weeks without food. More than three days will make you suffer malnutrition, and when you start eating again, make sure to drink plenty of milk. Btw, if this is to burn off fat, you won't get very far. There are people who die of starvation and are still obese. The body won't eat all of your body fat, but will start turning on your muscle. There are records of starved bodies that look like skeletons but still had 5% body fat to them. Also, your body can't take massive weight loss, especially if you are obese. The heart won't be able to adjust from being so high, to slow in a short period of time, and will result in cardiac arrest.
