Why do i do this? 10 points best answer?!

Question: Ok so when i get really frustrated or upset, and its to the point of crying, i become really short of breath, and i feel like im having a panic attack. It is really difficult to breath, and i have to stuggle for breath. Is it a panic or anxiety attack? I dont know whats going on here. I dont have asema (couldnt spell that) or anything like that, no medical backrounds of this. I have told my parents but they say its a mental thing, but im not sure.

Panic attacks and Anxiety attacks are the exact same thing. And yes I firmly believe you are having panic attacks. The effects are different from person to person. But you are getting upset and frustrated so that does put your body into a panic like state...so your body responds. Difficulty breathing and hyperventalating (cant spell) are very common with a panic attack. Also Your limbs and hands may become numb, your heart races, you may feel like you could pass out, and you seriously think you are going to die. I suppose it is a mental thing but some ppl (including me) need to be put on some sort of Anti-Anxiety meds like Zoloft, Lexapro, maybe Xanax..I have to agree with your parents to a degree. Because it is mental nothing is really wrong your brain is just responding abnormally. But I also have to say you need to talk to your parents and let a Doctor decide whether or not to put you on some sort of anti-anxiety meds. Also One more thing...I want you to remember this the next time this happens. Even though you may be gasping for air, and having any other symptoms that I described and some that I may not of described. Just remember they usually only last 30 minutes. And panic attacks or anxiety attacks whatever you wish to call them CAN NOT HURT YOU IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM! You will NOT die....you will be able to breathe. Not 1 person has died or been seriously injured by having a panic attack. Hope that Helps!!

Sounds like anxiety.

pure pressure.

or this one thing i saw on tv where u freak out over simple things becuz thats how ur brian works and when u freak out u cant breath.

its spelt Asthma also you are probably just having anger managment problems

Well it very well might be. I have had several full blown panick and anxiety attacks from generalized anxiety disorder. They are nooo fun, and feel like you are going to die. Those are the symptoms however of anxiety. Is there a tingling sensation on your face, that is the effect oh hyperventalation. I would say it is anxiety. Its good that you told your parents. they were right when they said mental thing because its your mind that is making you so frustrated, you just need to learn techniques. For instance try counting down from 100 and hold your breath for a couple of seconds then let it out. good luck :)

sounds like you are tripping out,,see a psych

you need to go to the doctor, if your parents wont take you go to a counsiler at school

panic attacks and anxiety attacks are the same thing Ive had about 6 panic attacks you seem to have some of the symptoms i would go to a doc and get some benzos for those days when you have a high probability of having a attack

i wouldn't recommend taking benzos everyday for anxiety i was put on clonazepam for 5 months i took 2 .5mg a day and after about a month and a half my speech was completely messed up i would know what i wanted to say but when i talked the wrong words came out and i would take odd pauses

its been 6 months since i got off the benzos it took a while but my speech has gotten back to normal

my parents also said it was all in my head but no matter what they say that is very wrong i had no control over when i would have a panic attack i would feel completely normal one moment then gasping for air the next

Sounds like hyperventilation. If it was me and it happen all the time, then I would see a doctor.

my sis is just LIKE u .dont try ur best to breath slow it might cuase u to faint . cry as loud as u can or scream into a pillow.hope ur al right this is seriose .wow ur just like my sis.

I've had similar "attacks" happen to me. it sounds like an anxiety attack. When you have one again, just relax and breath as slowly and deeply as you can and eventually it will subside.

Hope this helps
