Can anyone explain why people infected with HIV may develop aids?!

Question: I am gonna explain a short version of this as it is very complicated and takes a lot of time to give all the information.

Basically, when HIV enters the body , viral replications will take place ie. more and more HIV will be produced . The virus/ viruses use immune cells , in this case CD8 AND CD4 T cells, B cells as well as macrophages to replicate and hence destroy them when replication is finished . This will be a constant battle between the body immune system and the viruses. The body will keep producing more and more T cells and macrophages to fight against the intruders ( HIV ), this battle can take as long as 10 years or more. ( this is called latent stage ), so when a person acquired HIV, after a period of having flu like symptoms, enlarged lymph nodes , sudden weight loss , he will be back to normal , and during this period, we can expect a spike in the immune cells in blood. However, it is usually a loss battle of the immune system since more CD T cells will be destroyed and more viral replications will be formed. After the latent period , the immune level in the acquired person will fall below the lowest threshold and AIDS will occur ( Acquired immuno deficiency syndromes ) .

What it means is that the HIV itself do not cause diseases , but rather it opens a window for opportunistic diseases to develop since the immune system of the acquired patient is too weak to even fight of even the most commonly infections/diseases like cold . A whole lot of infections/diseases can develop such as pneumonia , extreme weight loss, muscle wasting , cancers , it also give M.tuberculosis bacteria ( that is dormant inside in billions of people but the symptoms never occur )a great chance to develop into tuberculosis. So the patient body can not fight most of the diseases as the immune system is now too weak and death is inevitable within a few weeks to a few months regardless of treatment.

hope that helps

Genetic susceptibility. As some people are more prone to develop heart disease or diabetes.
