Why do peoples faces go wider when they get old?!

Question: Two reasons- one, the bones in people's faces get more pronounced as they get older, so if they start out with a wide facial bone structure, it gets wider. Two, people tend to get fatter as they get older.

I don't think everyone's face gets wider though. It depends on the face shape they start out with and their weight. Also, some people can be fat and still have skinny faces.
