Can I throw away old prescription meds?!

Question: I have amoxicillin that I never finished (the doctor told me to stop taking it) and I was just wondering if it's okay to throw away prescription meds or if there is something else that i should do.

Yes you can throw them away, in fact it is what the drug companies print on their information sheets.

It is ok and probably better to through out old meds although why a doctor told you not to finish an amoxicillin cycle is beyond me that is just asking to have a relapse and then the drugs won't work. You are always supposed to finish a anti-biotic cycle or you risk leftover disease becoming immune to it, that's how we ended up with anti-biotic resistant staf.

Oh well, to late now and it should be ok as long as your not sick anymore. Go ahead and throw them out, they won't do anyone any good now and no one ever got high of amoxicillin.

Throw them in the trash. Don't flush them or they will get into the water supply.
