I have serious sleeping problems myself. I have dealt with this since before 4th grade.

Insomnia comes in different "flavors." You might have trouble falling asleep but not staying asleep; you might have trouble falling and staying asleep; or in your case you can fall asleep but can't stay asleep.

Your brain is active, which is keeping you from sleeping. You need to find something that works for you to slow that thinking down. I would suggest talking to your doctor; perhaps there is something biological going on and they might want to have you do a sleep study. You could have a thyroid problem, have anxiety or depression, or have other more serious illnesses you are unaware of.

Your body desperately needs REM sleep to provide you adequate rest and recharging. This lack of sleep will begin impacting all areas of your life. Remedies might include meditation, darkening your room, having a "white noise" i.e. fan or a maching that mimics ocean waves or heart beats, having a sleep routine (showering or bathing at bedtime with lavendar salts, reading, putting on PJs, etc).

You need to avoid caffeine at bedtime, try not to eat at least 2 hours before bedtime, and avoid stimulation (TV as an example).

also , make sure you turn off the tv before going to sleep...radio, and on-line information just before bed. If you watch television as a way to unwind, remember that certain kinds of programs --news coverage, for example, or suspense and action programs -- can make it hard to fall asleep. Try tuning in to news earlier in the day -- on the way home from work, for example, or early in the evening. If you use e-mail or check news on the Internet, set a last check-in time for early in the evening, too.

strenuous daily exercise helps Also cutting back on coffee, tea, and soda with caffeine...after five o
