Question: because in the movie awake it says that it is possible...what is the truth?

I don't remember the actual number, but unfortunately it does happen occasionally. The anesthesiologist controls sedation and paralytics during surgery. Most hospitals use a machine that has electrodes attached to the head during surgery to track brain waves (kind of like an EEG) and sedation is regulated based on the wave patterns.
I have read a few stories.
no, its more like one in every 200,000 or something to that extent. if u wanna find out more about surgery nd anesthesia, go to www.sourpatch.org its reli great w/ a lot of information!
Don't go to sourpatch.org, its a shock site. I don't think much people wake up during surgery, if they do it might be a big presisure other than something else.
It does happen more often than you would expect but it does so with a persons recollection of or the incident of pain being no cognitive concern . The team is ready for that event and a simple calculative increase or mix etc remedies the situation without any harm.
I am wondering though how it is that 1 in 700 ( and the number is more like 1 in 70,000 being reported cases) persons has anything to do with a years time.,..1 in 700 is 1:700 no matter if its a month or a year. The study for statistical purposes may have been a year long such as
" last year one in 700 surgical patients awoke during the procedure" but it has nothing to do with "in a years time " being true in numbers. the numbers just don't change because of the duration of the study
