Thalassemia or Anemia?!

Question: Thalassemia or Anemia!?
I have just recieved the results of some blood tests and my Dr has told me that I have a mild form of Thalassemia!. I have always suffered from anemia and have been taking iron supplements for the last 6 months with no improvment in my hemoglobin, red blood cell count or my ferritin levels which are undetectable!.
The Dr said that my results are consistant with someone who has mild Thalassemia!. He said that it was nothing to be concerned about but that I should take more iron and come back every 12 weeks for repeat blood tests!.
It is true that both my mother and brother tend to be anemic although not so much as me!. I am a Vegetarian and I am a young woman so I menstruate!.
My GP has ordered no others tests but says he can tell by my red blood cell count that Thalassemia is to blame!.
He also mentioned that I risk passing a more serious form of the disorder on to my children if my partner also carries the gene!.
I feel left in the dark about this condition!. What should I do!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Alright so, I have your exact problem!. I have a deficiency in iron, magnesium, b12, and a few others even though I take supplements!. I am young also, and I kept taking great amounts of supplements, but nothing was helping!. All to find that I not only was anemic, ect!.!.!.but my body could not absorb much at all (lack of b12)!.
B12 helps your body ABSORB ALL OTHER VITAMINS/MINERALS!.
You may want to talk to your doctor about that and see if that may be the problem!
I hope I helped!(:Www@Answer-Health@Com
