Question: What Can I Do For Swollen Ankles Due To Sitting At A Desk 13 Hours A Day!?
I am off 4 says a week but the 3 consecutive days I do work, it's for 13 hours straight!. By the middle of the second day each week my legs down to my feet are swollen so bad that I have to change to a larger shoe!. What can I do about it at night!?

I have always slept with a pillow under my feet because if I dont, my legs become restless and tense!. Are my feet so uded to being elevated that they've become "immune" to this remedy!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can try icing them also!. But a few pointers!.!.!.!. make sure that you are getting up once an hour to walk around!. Sitting at a desk for that long puts you at a much higher risk for DVT (blood clots in the legs)!. You can also try getting some compression socks to increase the circulaton in your legs!. Make sure that you are drinking enough water, and cut down on the caffiene!. If you get any cramping or red spots, make sure that you have it checked out by a doctor!. By virtue of the fact that they are swelling that means the circulation is not great!.

ETA: The poster above was talking about water retention!.!.!. if you are overweight or have high blood pressure this could be a problem!. But more water equals thinner blood!.!.!. better circulation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Beth in most cases the swelling is from excess water in the body!. This happens to me when I am too overweight and wear tight socks and shoes!. Some swelling is normal!. However to try and help alleviate the condition, you could wear the bigger shoes to begin with and not have the pressure on those joints!. And definately the other potential solution is to reduce the amount of water in your body!. Other than that you'll have to get checked out!. I use those herbal water loss pills rather than getting a scrip!. They work good for me!. Everytime I try to get a scrip I get peppered with all these questions and lectured about dieting!. that sounds like you are going from one extereme to the other!. 8 hours elevated to 13 hours vertical, add gravity and little or no movement!.!.!. voila!! swollen ankles!. if you can get away with a prop of sorts under your desk, or pehaps a short walk every hour or so!.!.!. just guessing!.!.!. ive never had this problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
