Question: Question about how the colon!?
I went to the gastro dr!. about a week ago for a consultation due to IBS-like symptoms that I've been having!. I then asked him about a big concern!.!.!. (first off, I'm a fairly thin person and over the past 2 months I've lost about 7 pounds) !.!.!.my upper stomach (or rather, abdomen) protrudes out over my flat, lower abdomen!. It's the area right above the belly button!. He said that wasn't abnormal and I shouldn't be concerned because the colon *blah blah blah* !.!.!.he went into some explanation about the colon that I can't remember! It seems to stick out more some days that others!.
Does anyone understand where he was going!? I'd love a full understanding!! :(Www@Answer-Health@Com

It doesn't sound like IBS because with IBS you usually experience pain in the lower abdomen!. Do you have that!? The diarrhea will cause you to loose weight!. Did the doc do other test to rule out things like dysentery, lactose intolerance or inflammatory bowel disease!? These are more serious conditions and they should be ruled out first!. Many people with IBS suffer from stress, which is one of the main causes!. Has he checked the spleen!? it's located in the upper area of the abdomen and can swell if there is an excess of gas!. I would suggest that if you are not happy with this doc!. seek out another one and get another opinion!. It's your right!.
