So, kinda' silly, but I've always wondered this: I have a friend that has always had the nastiest farts! And I'm just curious about what your opinions are about the health ramifications for anyone around that might have to smell the awful odor that comes from this man lol!. Do you think it is unhealthy for people to breath in what another person has exposed from their bodies!? It makes sense right!? They must smell bad for a reason!? lolWww@Answer-Health@Com

I dont think there is any real direct threat from smelling a fart, besides being grossed out!. Like the other guys said about the methane, just dont get into an enclosed, airtight space with someone who only eats Taco Bell for every meal!.

There was a case of a big fat man, who lived in a tiny one bedroom apartment!. I believe in NYC!. He farted himself to death!. This came out in the news, not a chain letter story!. Anyways, he farted so much one night, that the methane overcame the amount of oxygen in the room and he just suffocated to death!. So the moral is, if you fart, do it in the open, it could very well possibly kill you!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It smells bad because its coming from the same place the "brown stuff" comes from!. Its not unhealthy to smell the brown stuff thats why people dont wear masks when they use a pooper scooper with their dogs!. I guess if you ignited it while your doing it, it could light on fire and combust inside you but around other people I dont think its unhealthy!. I wouldnt recommend going around and sniffing it all day though for better health, that would be a bad idea!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think, on average, you would smell about 14 farts from different people a day!. I heard it on the news or seomthing , so i doubt its harmful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
He's probably eating a lot of meat, which (I'm sure many people are going to disagree with me) isn't meant for your digestive system to handle!. Our intestine are much longer than any carnivore's and meat can't be fully digested and rots in them, so when he farts, you might be smelling that rotting!. (Yay for vegitarians!)

It's due to their diet (if you've ever noticed someone who eats tons of fruit has a sweet odor to them when they let 'um fly!), but no, there is no "harm" to you by smelling them!. Well, outside of the coughing and choking you're doing with trying to get fresh air into your system!. :)

Your question makes sense, but I doubt breathing the fumes will be of any harm to others!. For one thing, it's not that much!. Flatulence fascinates me, too!. I'm a big fiber consumer, so I toot quite a bit, but most of the time the smell isn't bad!.
