Why does someone rub your back when your sick?!


Question: Why does someone rub your back when your sick!?
You know, when you're really sick and you feel like you're going to vomit, why does someone (like your parents) rub your back!? What is is supposed to do!?

I'm eight months pregnant, and awhile ago I was really sick and throwing up all the time, and my husband would always rub my back!. What does this DO!? I am so curious!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Actually, it calms the muscles in your core and then allows your tummy to relax!. When your sick your muscles tense up to hold in the head!. If you're relaxed you body has more energy to heal itself!.
But truthfully, I think we mostly all just do it because that's what our parents did, and their parents!.!.!.!.!.etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's called a relaxer!.!.!. It lets the person know that there is someone there with them and tells them that their best interests are in their hearts!.

Other than that, I couldn't tell you, except people are social animals, and touch is one way of sharing that need for social contact!. Some people rub backs, some rub hands, thighs, hands, heads, necks, etc!.

Probably to make you feel better i'm not really sure!. I know though i really wanted my back rubbed when i was sick like 2 days ago idk why though!. Anyways good luck with the baby!. And take all the back rubs you can get hahaWww@Answer-Health@Com

I have wondered about that too!.!.!. I assume that it is more like instinct, to try to make feel your back brain thing by rubbing it, cause it is the thing that works for health, if i remember!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
