Why cant Alcoholics have just one or 2 drinks?!

Hi, I am a recovering alcoholic, I tried a few times to quit and relapsed after convincing myself that I could have one or two drinks , then I accepted that I could not and have been dry for 8 years!.Alcoholism is a very complex issue, and unique to the individual with the problem!. some elements are the same for everybody!. Alcoholics do not drink because they like the taste of whatever their drinking , if you've ever tasted some of the cheapest brands of alcohol you will probably agree !.when alcoholics drink they are drinking for an effect , alcohol is the transport to get them to were they want to go or the shroud to protect them from the reality they no longer wish to face sober!. Having one or two drinks would not give this effect unless it is at regulaur intervals throughout the day (and night )wich is one drinking pattern associated with alcoholics, there are many more!. The stereo typical image of an alcoholic is someone who is drunk every waking moment seven days a week, this is the exception rarther than the rule!. Many can function ok and keep some control over the rest of their life for a long time before things get out of hand and they hit ' rock bottom'!. Once they hit rock bottom the only way back is to stop and learn to face life sober!. One or two drinks to an alcoholic is a pointless action and would be the equivalent to seeing an escape route in a burning building !. Hope this helps !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Because a chemical change has occurred in their brain!. All addictions work this way!. Their brain rewards them when they give in to the addiction!. Not only do they feel the affect of alcohol, they also get a rush of endorfins!. You think the more you drink the better you will feel!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
