Is it tonsillitis?!

If you have tonsillitis, your throat usually hurts and it's hard to eat or drink or even swallow!. You may also have a fever!. Here are some other signs that bacteria or a virus are infecting your tonsils:

* redder-than-normal tonsils
* a yellow or white coating on the tonsils
* a funny-sounding voice
* swollen glands in the neck
* fever
* bad breath

You should go and see your doctor as he can do a proper examination of your tonsils!. In the mean time:
* Drink plenty of fluids!.
* Eat smooth foods, including flavored gelatin, soups, ice-pops, and applesauce!.
* Avoid hard, crunchy, or spicy foods!.
* Use a cool-mist vaporizer or humidifier in the room where you spend the most time!.
* Rest!.

Do you also have post-nasal drip (ie, runny nose)!? That can cause sore throat!. What doctors refer to as tonsillitis usually means the swollen glands at the back of the mouth being infected with the strep bacteria!. Doctors are pretty specific about that!. But other bacteria and irritation caused by post-nasal drip or thrush can also cause horrible sore throats!. Do you have "urgent care" docs or clinics in your area!? You shouldn't have to wait until Monday, because if it's strep throat you will need antibiotics sooner than that!. If it's runny nose with watering eyes, you probably have seasonal allergies (a lot of people are having allergies right now from spring tree pollen), in which case you'll need an antihistamine like Zyrtec or Claratin and decongestants!. Once you're on antibiotics you could develop thrush and then need additional prescription lozenges to clear that up!. So it's best to see a doc and not self-diagnose, because other things could cause really bad sore throats, especially if you're sexually active (which I really hope you're not at age 13)!. Are your tonsils swollen/an odd color, and/or trouble breathing!? If so then it most likely is!. Just pain, and no swollen/odd colored tonsils doesnt sound like tonsilitis to me!. I've had a mild case before!. Eitehr way, get antibiotics!. Having your tonsils removed removes a part of your immune system and there have been cases where they cant stop the bleeding and you die from the surgery!. A family friend had this happen!. Only let them remove your tonsils if it reoccurs many times!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes hun, sounds just like it! i was in hospital last week cos of tonsilitis, i had a really painful 'lump' in my throat, couldnt swallow, had a fever and had banging earache!.not all cases will present with the white spots or lead to a qunisy (pussy lump on the tonsils) go to an emergency gp or a+e if you really cant take the pain!. joWww@Answer-Health@Com

tonsillitis just means swollen tonsils!. if you're feeling swollen in there, you probably have it!. go to the doctor and get some antibiotics!. you'll feel much better! meanwhile, some advil or aleve can help with the pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If the tonsils are BIG and inflammed then i think that shows tonsillitis, i know when i've had it before I lsot my appetite as well, but go see a doctor because it could just be a throat infection!.hope you get well soon!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
