Anterograde is the inability to remember ongoing events after suffering an injury to the head!. These patients tend to NOT forget things like childhood or who they are but have trouble remembering day to day things
Retrograde amnesia is when patients have trouble retrieving information stored by the brain prior to the injury to the head or when certain drugs such as rohypnol are taken!.
Traumatic amnesia follows brain damage caused by a severe blow to the head which did NOT penetrate the skull(i!.e!. road accident)!. It can lead to anything from loss of consciousness for a few seconds to a coma!.
Infantile or childhood amnesia refers to the patients inability to remember or recall events from early childhood!.
