Question: I'm so confused!.!?
Ok, so I had my gallbladder removed in 2005 and I never really thought about it before!.!.!. but, does not having a gallbladder cause diarrhea!? Also, does not having a gallbladder increase your chances of colon cancer b/c of the diarrhea!?
More importantly, does not having a gallbladder cause you to lose weight or gain weight!. I've heard a lot of ppl say they gained weight aftger surgery, but I've also heard it should cause weight loss due to the fat not being absorbed as efficiently!. So, my main !? is, will the fat not being absorbed cause weight loss or weight gain!. The ppl who say it causes weight gain say b/c the fat is being stored instead of digested!. Is that true!? It makes more sense to me that it would cause weight loss b/c the fat just goes through you w/o being digested, and that is why you have diarrhea too!.
I've gained weight, but I'm positive it is b/c of poor diet and exercise!.!.!. I'm doing something about that now and I've lost 60lbs so far :)!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What happens when you get galblader removed :
Liver creates bile continuously, and it depends on food you eat how much of it is created per day!. Galblader controled the timing of its release only, not the amount of it!. The bile is still there, so you can consume fat, though not so efficiently in large amounts!. Excess amount of unconsumed fat is one of the reasons for diarhea - your colon can not cope with it!.
Also, there is a small chance that galblader surgery would cause so called irritated bowel syndrome, but you would already looked how to solve this problem with your doctor if you had it!. Calcium tabs can be used to bind excess bile and might help in your case too!.
Now about fat loss!. It mostly depends on what foods you eat!. Nothing really changes!. One of the reasons might be that after surgery you eat more - you have no more pain after eating!.

I had mine taken out in 2003 after I got gallstones when I was preg!. It does cause diarrhea because the gallbladder is no longer there to help digest all the grease!. I gained weight after the surgery and then lost it but I had to diet and exercise!. As far as colon cancer I would not think it would have anything to do with that!. If anything I think it would help prevent it since your colon stays cleaned out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
