Hypothyroid-How long does it take to lower your TSH levels?!
Question: Hypothyroid-How long does it take to lower your TSH levels!?
I have been dealing with this for 9 years off and on!. I have been borderline for 6 of them until over a month ago!. I was put on medication for it and I felt like a new person within a week!. I feel it has been helping alot!. I go to get my labs done in 2 days and im hoping that my TSH levels are normal again!. Some people say it can take up to 2 years to get to normal levels and some say it can only take a month or two!. What do you think!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
It's great that you've already felt a significant difference because ordinarily treatment can take awhile to take effect!. TSH levels can turn around in 6-8 weeks, but it's not unusual for it to require up to 4 months for a patient to actually feel better!.
Ideally, your doctor is going to stay on top of getting you into normal range!. For most cases, this probably means seeing you every six to eight weeks for a TSH test and then following up with an adjustment to your dosage until your TSH results are normal!.
Once you're in the normal range, you'll need follow-up tests every six months until you've had normal readings for two full years-- whereupon annual testing should be adequate!.
Be sure to always remember to take your medication *exactly* as directed!.!.!. and never miss a dose!.
Good Luck with your results!Www@Answer-Health@Com
