Tongue piercing and the flu?!

Question: Tongue piercing and the flu!?
I got a tongue piercing on saturday and my throat was feeling pretty sore that day!. Turns out I was getting the Flu (my fiance had it for a few days before I started getting symptoms)!. I went to the doctor and got some really strong anti-biotics and cough syrup with codene, however, the swelling hasn't gone down and I've been coughing a lot, throwing up, among other things, which I'm sure is irritating the piercing!.

I think I should be better in the next couple of days but I'm worried this piercing may not heal properly because I've been sick!. Also, instead of using a non-alcoholic mouth wash, I've used Scope, because that's what I had!. I read some places it's okay to use it, it just takes longer to heal!.

In short:
1!. Is it normal to take longer to heal while sick with the flu
2!. and is it a big deal that I am using scope!?

Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Go get some non-alcoholic mouthwash when you can!. Mouthwashes with alcohol can burn the tissues that are trying to heal and they can upset the balance of normal bacteria in your mouth!. Since you're already sick and you're on anti-biotics, that balance is going to have enough trouble staying regulated without mouthwash burning you!.

You can also use a saline rinse or sea salt rinse instead of mouthwash all together!.

Yes it is normal for you to take longer to heal when you are sick!. It is also normal for you to swell a little more than average and have more discomfort since your defenses are down!. Doing all you can to recover and keep your piercing clean should help keep your piercing safe!. Take your medicines as directed, get as much rest as you can manage, and all the other things that get you over the flu!.

Since you're already overloaded with work for your body to do, I wouldn't add to it by using a mouthwash that's too harsh!. Have someone bring over something alcohol free or mix up some sea salt rinse!. This will save you from ending up with a burned mouth and an even more aggravated piercing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

scope-I don't think there would be anything wrong with that!.!.!.but yeah when your body is sick, it's not as strong!.!.!.so it might take longer for the piercing to get better!.!.!.like sometimes I'll be hungry and have a cold and once I eat it helps my cold get betterWww@Answer-Health@Com
