It depends not only on the amount of radiation use, but the time period over which it is spread!.
A typical x-ray delivers 0!.01 REM (which would be 10mrem)!.
If we look first at doses received in a short amount of time, (acute doses), the first biological effect begins to be able to be detected by laboratory analysis at 10,000 to 25,000 mrem (millirem)!.
So you'd have to have about 1000 x-rays in a short amount of time to be harmed!.
