I believe herpes is a virus that lies dormant in the spine and occasionally manifests itself when a person is under stress or for other reasons it appears!. if you are talking about the Herpes Simplex Virus HSV II (cold sores) then the best that you can do is the application of an anti viral medicine such as (Acyclovir) on the cold sore ,it will not treat it ,it will only interrupt the reproduction of the virus so it will heal faster!.

you should apply it about 5-6 times a day cause the virus replicates at that rate!.

you cant get rid of the virus cause it stays latent in the nerve fibers waiting for a chance for acute exacerbation !.
