Question: Why do so many kids get breathing treatments just because they're coughing!?
albuterol, xopenex, pulmicort!. None of these are cough medicine!. nor do they do anything for congestion, pneumonia, chf, and anything else that doesn't have to do with asthma or COPD, but Doctors use them like crazy on everybody who has any kind of complaint about shortness of breath or coughing!. What the hell!. You use to hardly see anyone with an inhaler when I was in high school or grade school!. Now every kid has one!. What's the big idea!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The rule in medicine is CYA!.!.!.!.!.Cover Your !.!.!.you know what!. With so many people trying to sue for their inheritance, medical practices have changed alot in just the last couple years!. People need to use discretion!. Common sense goes a long way, cough syrup, increase fluids, rest, but if a Dr tells you that may cost him $100k after someone admitted to hospital!. They have to be more aggressive in treatments, again CYA!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
They may not be a "cough medicine", but something is causing the cough right!? Inflammation of the bronch!. tubes etc!., so I think Doctors use these breathing meds as a precaution!. I do agree that they are most likely overused!. Just like antibiotics are/were!. They were prescribed so often that now the little bugs they used to eliminate have become "superbugs"!.!.Go Figure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
