i have given up smoking 5th day of patches!. Before i run round my garden screaming to let steam of as i want a ciggie,or put this way go on complete melt down and kill all round me, can anyon e give me some legal wacky and weird tips to keep going!. I am the same way when I try to quit!. I seriously am thinking about renting a hotel room for a week and just avoiding everyone I know!. I say running around the garden sounds good!. If you can take a really brisk walk or even run until you can't run anymore!. Having things in your mouth works too, but don't spend too much time preoccupied with that, you will just constantly remember what you are trying to do lol!. Try reading or anything that you can actually become enveloped in and not have to think about anything else!. Got a punching bag!? One time I tried to quit I was being mean to those in my family and I just put tape on my mouth!. It sounds really dumb but it kinda took me down a few notches and made me realize how ridiculous it all is!. I know you can do it!. Good luck!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i quit on lots of chewing gum and eating baby carrots!. its a healthy way to deal with the oral fixation caused by smoking!. also using your hands to do something else, like spending your sunday typing random things for yahoo answers, can keep your mind off the smokes!.

also, i started running and the crap that i coughed up was enough to make me not want to smoke again!. exercise and you will feel the effect smoking has had and if you force yourself to do it a little every few days you will not want to smoke because it will make you feel disgusting and wheezy and out of breath!.

punch your bed, pleasure yourself, eat something you enjoy, go for a run, lock all the doors and windows and barricade yourself indoors so you cant leave the house to buy any, scream as loudly as you can or pull funny faces at yourself in the mirror/pose/ dance!. Or all at once!.

I'm rubbish at trying to give up!. Whenever you want a cig, think of your motivation for giving up e!.g!. is it for a family member, your health, a job!? Try exercise, reading, a hobby or something as another outlet for stress!. Or try the elastic band idea, it could work for you!. Just whatever you do make sure you havethe will power not to have one cig, because when your trying to give up, one cigarette is all it takes to put you back at the beginning!. Try and do something to distract yourself and keep busy away from the temptation!.!.!. make sure you have none in the house or any you could get hold of!.!.!.!.!. and try and focus on the benefits of giving up and how good you will feel when you achieve your goal!.!.!.!. think about taking up a hobbie that will give you a buzz like maybe a dance class or an exercise class/gym something like that which will boost your fitness and make you feel even better and give you a natural high, of course you will find it hard your only human!.!.!.!.!. buy some gum or try nibbling on some bread sticks to keep ur hands and mouth busy!.!.!.!.!. Oh man, this too shall pass! I promise! It's a craving for a minute or two and it passes!. I'm on week 5 of the patch! DISTRACT yourself, that's the best thing to do and tell yourself all the reasons why you DONT want to smoke! The craving will subside! Also, if you give into it you will be killing yourself psychologically instead of those around you for being so damn weak!

The particles that come off the end of a cigarette are 0!.2 to 0!.3 microns in size!. the very great majority of those particles go through the respirtory system undetected, but the ones that are caught cause irrepairable damage!.

First and foremost, STOP THINKING ABOUT SMOKING!!!!!! Keep busy with other activites!. When you feel the urge to smoke replace the cigg with something else (as long as it's healthy!) Go for a walk or suck on hard candy!. Just stop thinking about it!. The mental aspect is the hardest thing to overcome!. I was able to successfully kick cigs nearly 7 yrs ago!.

I initially tried the patch but after a few days, I found that I was having vivid and weird dreams!.

So I used video games - specifically racing games on the Xbox (NASCAR) and pretzel rods!. In about three weeks I was off cigs for good!.

A lot of people say it's not just the nicotine cravings, but the habit of putting something in your mouth!. You could try lollies - get lots of nice Chupa Chups flavours - lets face it, everyone loves lollies! They don't have to be calorific or bad for your teeth (although those are the best kind lol!) as there are lots of sugar free lollies out there too!. drink orange juice or milk they don't go well with ciggies have a sucker, chew some mint gum, or a long walk that will make you out of breath, just remember just a little bit longer and you wont feel this way!. ill smoke one for you and send the relaxing brain waves!. I understand completely!!! If you will count to 50 each time you have a nic fit!. The fit will pass!. You are extremely strong person to attempt to quit!. I know I did it!!! Write down your feelings at the time, this takes your mind off the 'habit' (i'm not saying the word)
