I have, last year and to be totally honest with you it flippin sucked!

Mine was also for my back, they wanted my neck area, upper and lower back!.
What they didn't mention is each set of pictures would take 30-45minutes each!. When you have a back like I do, that is just hell!
I was in so much pain when it was time to sit up and adjust for the nect picture!. I had to have help sitting up becasue of the pain!.
I also discovered I have panic attacks when enclosed into a tight space!!
I had to break my MRI up into two visit's!. I did my first two then stopped, I couldn't handle it anymore!.
The tech that was doing it said it was totally stupid for a doctor to order all 3 films at one time when you have back pain!.
Before I went back for my second and last picture, I took my pain meds and my doctor gave me Xanax for the painic attack!. It was still ruff but not near as bad as the first time!.

Edit:They didn't tell me they were going to use the dye until at the very end!.
He took me out and I thougth I was done, thats when he said they need to stick me and put the dye in!.

Edit #2: As for your stuff--purse,ect!. They did have a lock box to keep my items in but they gave me the key and I didn't have to use it if I didn't want to, they said I could bring my purse with me!.
They also allowed another person in the room with me--I didn't bring anyone the first time but my oldest daughter went with me the second time!. It helped to pass time to hear her talk and ramble on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

An MRI machine is basically a tube shaped machine they stick you in, you will hear different sounds-knocking, rattling, pinging etc!. The machine gives a better internal view of your body structure so docs can diagnose what your problem may be!.

If you are more than a little overweight, they will have to put you in an open MRI machine (less claustrophobic)!.
Depending on what they are looking for, the procedure can take a large amount of time, the last one i had took an hour and forty minutes!.

You can tell them you are a little claustrophbic, they will then give you breaks if you need them!. Once you say claustrophobia-they offer meds to keep you calm (you wont be legally able to drive yourself home after if you take them)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had to have one done on my jaw not too long ago!. It's no big deal!. you can't wear anything that's metal, so no jewlrey and make sure there is no metal on your clothes(ie bra strap clips, zipper on jeans, sometimes on sweatpants the drawstring has metal as a protector, and sometimes tank tops have metal clasps to adjust the size of the strap)!. I remember I had a hard time putting together a total non-metal outfit!.

Also, they made me leave my purse in the other room(they did have a lock box, but you can't keep the key bc it's metal!.!.!. the nurse takes it)!. I don't know what your setup will be like but I would recommend not bringing anything "extra" in!. Just keys, ins card, and ID!.

Once the wait was over I went into the room, and they made me lay down on this small cot type thing that was connected to the MRI machine!. They gave me ear plugs, and then the nurse when into the other room to turn the machine on!. The cot started moving into the MRI machine(which kinda looks like a big white metal donut)!. Once inside the machine you are told to stay perfectly still(which for me is hard bc I am very figity)!. It was a little loud!.!.!. mostly swoosh sounds and some clicking!. They made small adjustments to the "cot" that I was laying on every so often, but that was bascially it!. It's really just a lot of waiting!. And like I said the hardest part was staying still!.

You'll be fine!. I know i got myself all hyped up for it and it was really nothing!.

Edit: Each "picture" took about 20-30 mintues!. keep in mind that you will be laying down for a while inside the machine!. And althought the cot is padded, it's not exactly soft!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

All you have to do is lay still inside the MRI machine!. It is not a big deal!. Tell them if you are anxious and they might be able to give you something to relax!. You will have to remove all jewelry and anything metal!. It is loud so they will give you ear protection!. It is pretty tightinside there so they will give you something to squeeze if you need anything!. You might have to have an IV if they have to use contrast dye (you would already know if they needed to use contrast)!. It's really just laying there!.!.!. not a big deal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No big deal!. You just lay there and it makes a bunch of weird noises!. Like a bad lay!. I fell asleep during mine!.!.!.

I had one for my back too!. I blew a disk in my lower back and had to have surgery!. The actual disk tore, and the nucleus oozed out!. It was the most horrible pain in my life!. The incision is just a half inch long!.!.!.and I have not had any problems whatsoever since!. I forget that I even had the problem unless something reminds me of it!. Of course I am now very careful how I pick things up, though!.!.!.but that was only a matter of how I trained myself to do such things!.!.!.!.something I should have done from the very beginning!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They offered me ear plugs or head phones to listen to your favorite music, trust me, take the head phones and tell them to TURN IT UP!. Also don't be nervous, it's no big deal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes wear ear plugsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Is it OPen or Closed!?!.!.i have had several Open MRIs !.!.!.no big deal!.!.just some strange banging noisesWww@Answer-Health@Com
