Gunshot wound to head. % of living?!

Question: Gunshot wound to head!. % of living!?
My husband was shot in the head when he was 5 by a 22 calibar at point blank range!. He was in a coma for 6 months and had to re-learn how to read, write, eat, walk, etc!. He is healthy and normal now and we have beautiful children together and a normal happy life!. He has a few issues with depression and things like that due to the wound!. I've known him my whole life and can remember when it happened!. It happened on easter and was an accident, he was shot by cousin who found gun at uncle's house playing cops and robbers!. I want him to know how lucky he is to be alive and we are curious about percentage of people who have actually survived this type of wound, I believe he is truely blessed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have not seen any GSW to the head that survived so well :-( so your story is very inspiring to me! Some of his factors were probably that he was so young when it happened (and young healthy patients can sometimes completly regenerate their cells), the caliber was small (the velocity is considered 'moderate' in contrast to a high speed bullet) and the part that was affected was compensated for!.

Today's guns and specially designed bullets - most unfortunatly - are produced to cause more tissue damage, to travel at higher velocities etc!. So unless the bullet hits non-vital areas the chances are very very slimWww@Answer-Health@Com

When I heard the news that one of my closest friends was shot in the head in a firefight overseas, I just about collapsed! I thought he was dead for sure (they forgot to tell me he was still alive)!.

It took a piece of his skull, and he has a plate in his head now!. He has some trouble tracking motion smoothly with his eyes, and you would never guess he had this problem unless he told you, but he's the same person I've always known!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow, probably very low, considering that your brain takes up most of your head!. And, obviously, you need your brain!. Your husband has a really amazing story, having to re-learn everything!. He is very lucky and he is blessed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow! Regardless of the %, he is 1 in a million! Take good care of him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
