I gave my son a drug test...?!

Question: I gave my son a drug test!.!.!.!?
and the test showed positive for THC!. He says he was in a small room with someone that was smoking about a week ago!. Can he test positive from the second hand smoke!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
First off, congratulations on having the courage and enough love to test your kids! Well done!

There is virtually no way second hand smoke will show as a positive result, especially if the cutoff level of the test is 50ng/ml (normal sensitivity of the dip stick type of tests)!. The small amount that he would have "inhaled" and the length of time since the incident would not produce a positive result!. If he continues with this line, counter with asking why he was even around it in the first place!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oh yes, definitely!. I am a smoker myself, and my boyfriend is not - but he has tested positive just by being in the same room, even though he is was on the opposite side, with the fans on, the hood vent over the stove on, and the windows cracked!. It's that easy because the human body produces a very, very small amount of THC as a byproduct of some body function, and even a few breathefuls of secondhand smoke can put you "over the limit" for a drug test!.

However, speaking as someone who has smoked a long time, he probably tried it!. And, I don't know your personal beliefs, but it's not the end of the world!. He is probably a little young, but it's better to be open-minded and let him do it around where you can keep an eye on him and keep him safe, as opposed to going on some kind of tirade and making it forbidden, because that only makes it more appealing to the teenage brain!.

Feel free to email me whatever your decision, if you'd like a little advice getting him to talk about it!. My mom did, and I think it helped me stay on the right track and kept me out of (real) trouble!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would say that he inhaled on his own accord - I've never gotten high just being in a room with people, (no matter how small or smokey - even in a car) so I assume the THC level isn't high enough to register on the test either!. (if it's not enough to get you high, I don't think it would show up on the test!.
The question is why are you testing him!? Obviously you think he is trying drugs, so follow your gut - you know your son!. Does this explanation sound plausable to you!? If you suspect it, it's probably happening, and now you have the proof - just tell him you know he's lying and you want the real answer!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's possible for him to test positive in that instance, yes!. If he was in any way exposed to THC, even from second-hand smoke, it could register!. The issue is why your son didn
