Question: Lorazepam / Ativan and future pregnancy!?
hello I have just been prescribed lorazepam, the generic Ativan!. I was wondering about the pregnancy!. I plan to have babies in a few years, will taking this medication now be ok for the future!? I was also wondering the same about cymbalta!. Than you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ativan is a category D for risks- "may cause risk to the fetus, but potential benefits of use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risks[ such as in a life- threatening situation or a serious disease for which safer drugs can't be used or are ineffective} " Cymbalta- category C -" animal studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus, but adequate studies haven't been conducted in humans!. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the potential risks!."
