Why are hospital beds so uncomfortable?!

Question: Why are hospital beds so uncomfortable!?
You would think that they would want the patients to get good rest!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
hospital beds were not designed for patient comfort!.

they were designed to make patient care easier!. more for the staff who have to do all the bending, and lifting and other heavy work!. they also facilitate patient health when the patient needs to be in certain positions (like for traction) or needing to sit up to breath better!.

the mattresses have to be able to bend with the bed (so not much firmness there) and have to be VERY CLEANABLE - so again 'comfort' is not considered importantWww@Answer-Health@Com

I don't find it that bad actually!. I like how you can adjust the head rest, if you want it a bit up you can do that, your bed at home can't do that!. And I really ike the warmed up blankets they give, you can see the heat rising from them, it's cosy and warm!.

But I hope I don't have to visit a hospital in near future!. lolWww@Answer-Health@Com

I didn't find hospital beds so uncomfortable except a bit too high!. But then they do provide those foot steps to help reach!. It may be, like someone in the know pointed out, so to help the nursing staff with their chores!.

My mom was hospitalised for a week and she never once complained!. In fact the sheets were spotlessly clean and soft!. (She even mentioned she wanted one like those for her home)!.

Yes, the bed/couch for the attendant is a bit narrow, but then again we aren't looking for our own physical comforts there!.!.!.!.

P!.S!. Some extensive research done by <I>!. Hope it wasn't for personal reasons!!! Wish you never have to lie on ANY one of those! I myself am mortally afraid of hospitals [even if they have Gregory Peck lookalike doctors!.!.!.!.Naah!.!.that's not true!. I'll definitely check myself in for arrhythmic heartbeats]]!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In Public Hospitals ---> to discourage you from getting used to being sick!.

In Private Hospitals ---> to encourage you to upgrade to a comfortable private room!.

In Psychiatric Wards ---> to discourage you from entertaining soft acrobatic ideas about the pretty nurse!.

In Trauma Centers ---> To help you think twice about drinking and driving, NEXT TIME!.

In Cruise ship Emergency Rooms ---> to fool you into thinking that you've landed on solid ground, so you stop vomiting!.

In Retirement Homes ---> to make you think you've fallen and you can't get up!.

Because they are made of china!!!!! also, in public hospital - you would get a beds that are really awful to rest or sleep on, in Private hospital they are little abit better and upgraded!. I am in private hospital with top cover and of course is not very cheap!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You think those are bad--try those cots they put in the rooms for over-night guest, those are murder!
Actually I found my daughters hospital bed very comfortable but maybe it was because I had spent so many nights on that damn cot and anything was a improvment over that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depends on the bed, but generally they're made to be easily cleaned and changed, and relatively inexpensive!. Plus they need to be movable, which means heavy things like springs and boxes are out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think they are generaly uncomfortable because you have to lie in them for long periods of time!. Statyin gin bed for long periods can cause discomfort to your back and restlesnessWww@Answer-Health@Com

they make them cheap because most patients are numb from all the anesthetics and can't tell the difference any way!. Let alone the fact that it costs enough money to run the place!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They need to be functional and mobile and that equals as comfortable as possible but not the hiltonWww@Answer-Health@Com

Probably because they are simply not your own bed and usually, you're not there for the most pleasant reasons!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Cheaper,
and!.!.!.
you leave faster,

if you were like homeless, you'd stay forever!.

assuming it was a free clinic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
