This is a really hard question!! My sister is an EMT and supervisor over the local hospital's transport system!. It was hard for her at first to deal with it, but the only answer to this situation is that it takes time!. You have to realize that when all is said and done that you really did do all you could in the time frame that you were given!. We all make mistakes, that's a given in any field you go into because we are human!. Yes, hindsight is 20/20, but none of us have the ability to know exactly the right thing to do at any given moment in every medical emergency!. You can ask any doctor, EMT, nurse, or paramedic - if they actually had the time to second guess theirselves, they probably would second guess themselves and would come up with better solutions in an emergency!.!.!. but that's just it - it's an emergency, so you go with your instinct!. As far as dealing with the guilt - as I said, it's something that takes time to learn to have confidence in knowing that you did everything in your power at the time it was needed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
