Do I have the right to say NO?!

Question: Do I have the right to say NO!?
I was just wondering, if my pain clinic wants to put me on Methadone do I have the right to ask for something different because I'm not comfortable with this medicine!.
I have read that you get very sick when you stop taking it and I really don't want to go through what I have read on the net about it!.
I just have this feeling that they are going to put me on Methadone and when I have a feeling I'm usually right!. I'm allergic to Fentynal and Codeine, but I can take Synthetic codeine!.
I want to know if I will get kicked out of the pain clinic if I tell them I would rather try a different medication or will they put me on something different!?
I'm also going to be having surgery very soon (not sure that it matters, but just thought I'd throw that in)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
they won't kick you out for wanting to try a different medication, but try not to ask for a different one by the medication's name, because that's a red-flag drug seeking behavior!.

Just tell them you've heard a lot of bad things about Methadone and you're not sure it's a good idea for you to take it and then ask if there's something else you can take instead!.

If not, take the methadone for 2 weeks and then go back and tell them that it makes you vomit/get headaches, some other side effect and they'll switch youWww@Answer-Health@Com

I believe you have the right to say no!. Because they can't forcibly treat you to take something!. You could request that you were prescribed a different medication and provide your reason for why!. And if it's a legitimate reason that makes sense they'll probably give it to you!. They probably just prescribe methadone because it is what is most commonly used, and other medications may have certain side-effects that aren't wanted or generally easy to put up with!. So you have the right to ask for another drug, but they can either say they won't prescribe something else and you'll have to take it, or you don't take it and no longer get treated by them, or they may comply with your request!. Also saying you have surgery is important because some medications may have effects that may complicate your surgery!. Good luck ;)Www@Answer-Health@Com

you have every right to say no to a course of treatment that you feel might be harmful to your body!. the key being "your body"!. Tell them why you don't want to take it and see if there is an alternative!. If they tell you no then you are also entitled to a second opinion!. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor questions about this drug and be informed about your course of treatment and other alternatives there are out there for whatever illness you have!. Have you considered alternative medicines like acupuncture!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Of course you have the right,
you don't have to take anything you don't want to and no one can make you
If they do want to put you on methadone, why don't you ask about what you are conserned about because some of the storys you read may not be relible and doctors will know more about it

You always have a right to speak up about medication!. Doctors know a lot, but they don't know everything!. There have been numerous times that I've been perscribed a drug that I've refused to take!. Sometimes they just have to give you something else that may not work as well, but you still can say no!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you have the right to say no!. However, before you do that, I would voice my concerns about what you say you have read about it!. They may kick you out, if you have a bad attitude, but if you put it in a way in which you are trying to get more info about the medication then that should work!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They won't kick you out!. They might get annoyed at having to find something else you can take!. Or they may just try to talk you into taking this!.

If there are good reasons you don't want to take it, they can't make you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You have the right to say no to whatever you want!. A doctor cant do anything that you dont want them to do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you can ask them for an alternate medication because you don't feel sure about taking that one they should be able to work with you hope you get better and good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

of course you have the right, it's your body these drugs are going into!. Most doctors will be understanding and be glad to give you something else!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
