Dividing slow release capsules?!

Question: Dividing slow release capsules!?
is there any way that you can divide a slow release casule!?!?!?
the powder inside is easy enough to halve, but i want them to still have the slow release effect!.!.!. and cannot get any smaller dosage of the pill!.

please only answer if you actually have done this, as the tablet is a stimulant and if it isnt made to release slowly, it could cause problems, so, im looking for a proven, safe way to divide them!.

i dont mind sacrificing half the tablet either!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're hope is that the drug is homogeneously (evenly)interspersed amongst the filler matter in the capsule!. If it is, you can just knife it down the middle and go for it ((the worst that can occur is if it turns out it ISNT evenly dispersed, well then you may end up taking a quarter dose or three quarters!.!.!.))!.
You're really a guinea pig for yourself in these matters, and TRYING is what tells!.

You SHOULD be aware that if you remove half the contents of a time release capsule, you WILL want to keep the half you are taking IN THE CAPSULE!. ((the capsule itself could play an important role in time-releasing, and also may be important so that the drug doesn't start making holes in your esophagus before it makes it to your stomach!)

TWO-you could google search 'time-release capsules'(or some such language) to find some boring old doctor writing somewhere that talks about it!.
Drugs!.com is a reputable source of info on drugs in general!.
And ask-a-patient!.com has great advice from people who actually USE the drugs!.
Also:A Narcotics Anonymous chatroom could provide the answer nicely (they're reformed adicts!. they'll probably give you a sermon while you're there!. but they ARE the world's leading experts on do-it-yourself drug use!)

NOW -having told you all that- here's my real answer (and forgive me for what I'm about to say!. it's not meant to be an anti-drug ATTACK!!.!.!.just, take it from someone(if your heart tells you to) from someone who sadly found out the hard way and KNOWS-->for god's sakes don't be a druggie! It's SO important not to start a little thing now that wrecks your health over time!. BAD HABITS-once formed-become you and then can't be escaped!. --->me,for example,I relied on stimulants (insteasd of just some nice delicious sleep! :) ) for 20 years!. It started as just once, then once in a while, then it was "I'll quit when it's time to"!.!.!.NOW I have to go to the muscular sclerosis clinic all the time!. The seemingly harmless stimulants(they were just OTC diet pills!) made me THIS SICK!.!.!.

So - I leave it to your own best judgment!. You can work on splitting the stimulant capsules((and hey maybe they're for legitimate purposes, how do I even know, you didn't say! ---but,if they are ask your doctor for a smaller dose, or a different drug that DOES come in a smaller dose,ya know!? It's ALWAYS the right thing to do to rely on what the doctor knows (they went to SO much college! -that knowledge has just GOTTA be worth something!)!.

Also --- when I've elected to medicate myself (outside of the doctor's supervision) , just to be safe (and not TOTALLY stupid about it)-->I'VE ALWAYS GONE TO A PHARMACIST FOR FREE CONFIDENTIAL ADVICE!. He'll give it to you straight!. He won't charge you!. He could keep you safe(or safer)!.
Good luck to you!.

((I still wish you'd consider forming
better life habits, like proper sleep
and nutrition!.
(((ya know when
people who use stimulants get
older, they end up a lot more
wrinkly and saggy and tired than
they would have had to! )))

!.!.!.Whatever it is you got going on,
I wish you good health and real
happiness!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i have no idea what kind of drug this is but if it is something your doctor has prescribed for a medical condition then you should never be chosing to change the doses without discussing with your doctor!. if it is a pain medication or a sleeping medication then i suggest you find an alternative if this is too strong at even the lowest dosage!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Check with your doctor first to see if you can get the meds in a smaller dose and ask about going to a compounding pharmacy!. I don't know where you live but check to see if you have a compounding pharmacy!. They will be able to split the capsules for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

DO NOT DIVIDE a slow release medication!.

It puts you at a huge risk for an overdose!.

Talk to your doctor about switching to a regular release med - you might have to take more often but you can have a lower dosage!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can't divide a slow-release capsule!. It will no longer be slow-release & could be dangerous!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
