Question: I have truble sleeping!!?
i have truble sleeping and even when im tired and go to bed at say 9:30 or so i STILL cant fall asleep!! my docter says im too young to have sleeping pills and since i get allergys i take benedryl but it still wont work can u help!!!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've had trouble sleeping ever since my daughter was born 12 years ago! I have tried a TON of things, maybe they will help!.

-don't eat or exercise within a few hours of going to bed
-if you take a bath or shower before bed, try to wait an hour after before getting in bed
-wear socks to bed, keep your room on the cooler side
-keep your room dark
-don't do anything other than sleep in bed (no tv, writing, talking on the phone, etc)
-get in a routine before bed (brush teeth, wash face, jammies!.!.!.) to get your body to say "oh yeah, it's time for bed")
-don't worry about "will i be able to sleep tonight, etc"-you will get your body tense & end up not sleeping
-get up at the same time everyday, go to sleep at the same time everyday
-after you set your alarm clock turn it away so you can't see it (you won't stare at it all night & worry "now I can only sleep this many hours")
-try not to nap during the day, no matter how tired you are, you may have to be completely exhausted for a little while, but it will help in the end!.
-if it's too noisy, use foam earplugs
-if you have to get up in the middle of the night don't turn on the light, use nightlights, & don't look at the clock while you are up
-when you get in bed try to meditate, imagine every muscle in your body relaxing, think of calm places, etc

There could be too much on your mind!. Make sure before you go to bed, write down whatevers on your mind to get it out!. You can try to fall asleep the second you feel REALLY tired, not when you feel like you have to go to bed!.
After you fall alseep, don't put on any light or tv because then your mind will wake you up!.

I used to have the same probelm, until my grandmother told me to drink Valerian drops!. They are a natural type of liquid thing and I take 20 drops, you can find them in any Natural Store or pharmacy!.
Also try not thinking that you can't sleep think of something else, and don't drink coffe or eat sweets after 7:00pm because they keep you awake!.

Arhh !! I know what you mean hun !! Im a nightmare for it too ! I try to concerntate on something like reading or watching a D!.V!.D ! And i have found it really helps as a couple of years ago i couldn't sleep for the world so i had to get a nice hot bath to relax me and then drink a hot drink and read in bed and it worked and have caried on doin it ever since !

This might sound silly, but seriously, pick the school subject that you dislike the most!. Then pull out the textbook and start reading it in bed!. Forcing yourself to read something you are dis-interested in will help you fall asleep!Www@Answer-Health@Com
