Question: !4 year old holding there Bowels for Months!?
Hey all I really need your help!. Serious res ponces only please!! I adopted my god sister back in February and in April she was complaining her tummy hurt!. So I asked her if she went poop!. The answer was NO, I asked how long and she said hadn't since she lived in my home!. Immediately I took her to the ER and they got some out and advised me to take her to a specialist!. So I did he gave me a list of over the counter things to give her!. None of it worked!. Enemas made her go like that fist week!. Not since then!. So were going on 30 days with no movement at all!. I took her for X-rays today and she is completely full!. I don't know what else to do about this!. One Doctor says she can affect all of her organs if something were to burst and the poop got in the wrong place and the other just isn't doing anything!. Someone help me because at this point I have no clue what to do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

tried MiraLax!. it is over the counter now, but it was a prescription laxative a short while back!.
If you haven't please rush to get her some!. It is mild but it works tremendously!. I have had problems all of my life and nothing has ever done anything as well as this!. You can just mix it in her juice or even water (which she should be drinking alot of by the way) it has no taste and will not give her cramps!.
I am just sitting here in shock I cannot believe this little girl is suffering and the doctors sent her home!? Good for you for being diligent with trying to help her!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

If the doc can't help then there is a problem with the doc
the docs right it can hurt her go back to the ER or the docs office and don't leave until you have some meds in hand
they can't kick you out once the doc see her he is responsible

um i find it hard to believe she is still alive after not pooping for a MONTH and that the doctor would just tell you that and send you home!. go to the emergency room or a specialist, preferably a GI specialist if this is truly the case!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Wow! That is really serious! She could actually die!. Does she realize that!?

Well, I couldn't tell you what to do to get her to go, but once you figure it out, Ive got some advice!. When children develop the go through stages!. Once of them is anal, it is when they realize that they have control over their bodily functions and they go through it around the time they are potty trained!. If she's 4 yrs old then she may be developmentally stuck in this stage!. A traumatic experience could cause this!. I would really really suggest taking her to a psychologist!. People who don't successful get through this stage could have problems later on in life with social interactions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

He had tummy pain for a couple of days and then he crumbled to the floor and she ha to call 911!.
Once in the hospital is where they discovered he was "backed-up!."
He was deathly ill for a few days because of this and was int he hospital for over a week!.
I just can't see someone going as long as you say and a doctor just getting "some" out and sending her home!. That just doesn't make scense!.

take her to another specialist but in the meantime take her to the emergency room so they may remove the bowel movement and make sure you insist on it because a lot of times the doctors just want to get you out of there!.!.!.

I know my sister had this problem, but not to this extreme, my mom would say hot baths would always do the trick!.
Sounds like the situation is beyond hot baths though- it could be psychological!. I would see more doctors or talk to the specialist again- or try a child psychologist!. Could there be any reason she is uncomfortable going in your bathrooms!? Talk to her about what it is that she doesn't like about going!. and of course lots of fiber and prunes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
