Sick.. Help?!


Question: Sick!.!. Help!?
I'm 14!. I've had Gastroenteritis (Stomach Flu) since Monday!. I didn't eat anything for about 3 days except drink some ginger ale!. Thursday I was feeling better so I went to school!. I was able to eat/drink normally!. Friday, I was sick again and throwing up alot!. Today, I'm still really sick and extremely nauseous!. I really can't eat or drink anything unless i'll throw up!.

I was only 105 pounds to begin with and now i'm 100 pounds!. I'm really shakey and weak!. My face is red and my lips are dry!. I'm worried i'm dehydrating but I can't drink anything!.

I went to the doctors monday and all they said was to rest and stuff but i'm still not feeling better!. What should I do!. Any suggestions to get something in my body so i'm not as weak!? I don't want to throw up anymore as it hurts!.

You poor thing! If you face is red and lips are dry you probably are dehydrating!. The best thing to drink right now would be Propel!. It will help rehydrate you without all the suagry syrups, dye, etc!. and will help to restore your electrolyte balance, which is important to feel better!.

When you can tolerate it, have some jello!. Now I HATE HATE HATE jello, but when you are sick, jello is a wonder food!. Get the kind with sugar to bring up your blood sugar!.

When you can tolerate that, have some plain white toast!. No whole grain, good for you wheat bread- just good old mushy white bread like Wonder brand!. That will get your energey back!.

It sounds like you got a good case of something and maybe you went back to school too soon!.

When I was pregnant with my kids I used to throw up so much that I not only learned how to throw up correctly, but eventually learned how to supress throwing up! It isn't easy, but it can be done!. You need to lay on your side (off of the bed with a bucket on the floor in case is the best) and close your eyes!. When you feel the sweats coming on, you have to keep swallowing, keep your eyes closed, and just keep thinking about something else, almost hyper-focus on one thing, until the urge passes, then drink a sip of water to get your gag reflex going in reverse!.

To throw up properly so your stomach doesn't hurt you need to lay on your side again, and literally hang your head off of the bed to get it up!. Gravity is working for you this way, and it causes much less stress on your body!. Use a wastebacket lined with small garbage bags for easy clean up!. Also, take a tiny sip of water to reverse your gag reflex after throwing up!. It helps to prevent "dry heaves"!.

I never in a million years thought I'd be posting that information! If you don't feel better by next week you need to see the Dr again!. To me personally it sounds like you have food poisoning!.

GP is right you need plenty of rest drink lots of fluid should be clear ie water so you don't dehydrate you could take some lucozade as it has plenty of sugar for your energy levels Vaseline will help your lips if no better on Monday you should see your GP as i said loads of fluid as you really sound as you are dehydrated hope you feel better soon take careWww@Answer-Health@Com

hi, i know what you feel like,i had this 24 hour bug the other day and i thought i was going to die,i threw up 5 times and i was extremely exhausted, i was heaving so hard i peed in my pants! the best thing to do is not eat anything,if you feel like you can eat soda crackers or sip coke syrup!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to have plenty of bed rest!. I think you went back to school too soon!. You need to star light foods like chicken soup, and crackers!.!.!.!. for a few days!. And then ask your mom to get you some vitamins to build your immune system up!. Hope you feel better!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Gatorade is excellent when you're sick!. I found that my sons could keep that down when they couldn't keep anything else including water down!. Just take it easy first and just sip on it!. It's good to keep you hydrated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey there!. I'm sorry you're so sick! Heres what I think-

I know you keep throwing up, but you will never get strength if you don't at least drink something!. If you do, and can, drink water!.!.!.SLOWLY!. Very small sips and a little at a time!. Wait a little in between sips!. Maybe drink from a straw to help drink slowly!.

Do you have a fever!?

Your doctors suck for not helping you!.

If you can get down water slowly and gradually!.!.!.thats great! Keep that up and you will slowly at least not be so dehydrated!.!.!.which will help your lips and you won't feel so shaky hopefully!.

Then, if the water helps!.!.!.try eating a little toast!. Toast is really easy on the stomach and its something my mom always tries to have me eat when I have the stomach flu!. So try some dry toast and like the water, eat it slowly and gradually!. If you can get that down thats great! If not!.!.!.stick to the water for a while and introduce food slowly!.

Tell me if you don't get better in a few days and I will think up some other things you can do!. If you don't get better in a couple of days though!.!.!.you should really see a doctor about getting help to get better!

Rest a lot!.
