Nurses, phlebotomists, is this scenario possible?!
Question: Nurses, phlebotomists, is this scenario possible!?
I recently went for a blood draw at a lab!. The nurse used a butterfly needle on me!. The needle seemed clean and no blood was visible in the tube!. I am afraid because this scenario may have happened!.!.!.The nurse used the needle on a patient before me but she didnt hit a vein so the blood draw didnt work and blood was not drawn into the tube and thus it seemed clean to me!. The nurse then put the needle with the tube by mistake in the plastic wrapper again and put it with the new ones!. Then when I came, the nurse used the same needle without knowing that the wrapper is open!.
Is this possible!? Am I infected with something due to this!? I am terrifiedWww@Answer-Health@Com

You have a very vivid imagination, to the point where if this is a major issue for you, you should probably see a psychiatrist!. It's true there was a case recently involving several patients who got hepatitis from used needles, but they involved injections, not draws, and this was a rare scandal!. Reputable phlebotomists will ALWAYS use a needle fresh out of the wrapper, and will usually open it in front of you, although you might not notice that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
how on earth would you know that the nurse re-used the needle if you weren't there to see him/her use it on the other patient!?!?
this is a LAWSUIT!. needles are NEVER to be repackaged / reused!. even if they touch something that's not sterile the needle should be disposed in a biohazard container!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
