Question: Protonix for acid reflux - I am 15 weeks pregnant and I have terrible acid reflux!.!?
I was prescribed Protonix and I started taking it a couple days ago!. I have noticed little to no relief!. Do you know how long it takes for Protonix to start working!?

A few days is not enough for it to really start working!. It will take a week to two weeks!. If you've had reflux for long enough to really irritate your esophagus, full relief may take longer than that!.
I don't know if Zantac is safer during pregnancy, but it is far less effective at treating acid reflux!. Zantac, Prilosec, and Pepsid are pretty useless for symptoms as bad as mine and the only things that have helped were Protonix and now Aciphex!. Protonix made a huge difference in my symptoms, so I hope it works for you!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try Zantac!. Protonix is a proton pump inhibitor and Zantac is probably safer for a pregnant woman!. My daughter is 9 months pregnant and takes 2 Zantac 150's a day!. Her doctor says it is perfectly safe!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
